Use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) in concrete and lightweight masonry bricks

Use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) in concrete and lightweight masonry bricks

The project will develop solutions to incorporate EPS in concrete and bricks leading to upcycled solutions.

Project Objectives:
Sub-Project 1
  1. To develop an optimum mix design for foam concrete.
  2. Performance testing for mechanical properties and durability characteristics
  3. Demonstrated product and pilot application project with MBRC.
Sub-Project 2
  1. To develop an optimum mix design for foam concrete to be used in masonry units.
  2. Performance testing for mechanical properties, durability characteristics as well for the requirements for fire rating
  3. Impact assessment of the use of this product in structures and infrastructures
  4. Upscaling the product by using a pilot application project with MBRC and monitoring the performance.
