Essential oil, bioenergy and biochar production from nuts and botanicals

Essential oil, bioenergy and biochar production from nuts and botanicals

The project covers waste processing technologies and pyrolosis for nut shells of pine nuts, almonds, macademia and hazel nuts in a three-stage process.

Project Objectives:
  1. Investigate the feasibility of the DIC unit for the opening of the nutshell of pine nuts, almonds, hazelnuts and macadamia nuts and simultaneous extraction of essential oil
  2. Investigate essential oil extraction efficiency and chemical profile
  3. Evaluate techno-commercial viability of the integrated DIC-pyrolysis system for the production of nuts, essential oil, biochar and bioenergy.
