This project, led by the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in partnership with Halok Pty Ltd, focuses on developing commercially viable geopolymer concrete products using waste fly ash and slag—an important step toward circular economy outcomes. The primary engineering outcome is the creation of geopolymer precast panels suitable for use as lightweight cladding. Initial trials have also explored additional products such as roof tiles and garden pots, which are lighter and more sustainable than traditional concrete equivalents. The project is now working on optimising production methods and establishing a scalable pilot facility to bring these products closer to market.
