Material modelling, accelerated testing and field trials for concrete and asphalt incorporating waste

Material modelling, accelerated testing and field trials for concrete and asphalt incorporating waste

This project will explore implementation of multiple materials and solutions within local government construction projects and field trials

Project Objectives:
  1. Development of an integrated Material modelling framework for predicting the hydration mechanism, mechanical and durability characteristics of concrete incorporating wastes.
  2. Development of accelerated testing and prediction guideline for concrete exposed to aggressive environments, such as marine, acid/sulphate exposure etc.
  3. Investigate the end-of-life of crumb rubber asphalt and develop a laboratory-based method to produce aged crumb rubber asphalt.
  4. Field trials of sustainable concrete/ asphalt developed (incorporating waste) in laboratory/scaled-up level, with the support of industry partners/councils.
  5. Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment & Whole Life Costing study on concrete and crumb rubber asphalt considering its sustainability/durability/ageing potential.
